As Balkan blends are a bit lighter on the Latakia and heavy on the Orientals it is a bit different than a regular English blend, but not as light as P resbyterian Mixture. It may need a couple of relightings, but after each one of them the taste seems to get even better and richer. $7.99. Sobranie, all in all, is a wonderfully rewarding smoke. I've never seen a tobacco change so much even from year to year (maybe just the Dunhill 965 did). I had heard the stories. Size: 1.76 Oz. The 1980's and later versions used Cyprian Latakia which added a little different sweetness to the mix. Hope to increase production, now the demand is far greater than supply!!! Leiconnsel, yours is the finest review I've ever read here. No bite whatsoever. Unique, mild and full of flavor .. but something is telling me there is more to it than just a tobacco blend. Easily qualifies as a rating that's off the chart IMHO, of course!!! There are reasons for so many accolades and sagacity for such a fine tobacco. The latakia did not hide, nor was it subtle. It reminds me of two blends sort of: Pease's Charing Cross and Bohemian Scandal. I was expecting a bold flavorful balkan blend but what I got was a mild english with a cut that did not seem to load well into my pipe. As time went on and I matured, this blend slowly grew on me . It was always ?caviare for the general?, and not, lately, much of a money-maker: English tastes, in this as in everything else, have become coarsened and vulgarised; and so, once it was deprived of its big American public, this blend simply became problematic and unprofitable. It was a little dry so I had to add a little humidor to revive it. Nice english, occasionally a hint of soap on the lat. I'm glad that I was able to enjoy this rarity at a time when it was perhaps at it's best, and wish I had stashed a few tins away to be happily re- discovered.
